A “Desert-Island-Discs” new look? Not quite! But an exploration of the island itself – how do British poets see the “island nation”? Celebrate our language in lyrical, dramatic, humorous and expressive movement… evoke the landscape & seascape with Debussy’s music.

Concert with Eurythmy

 

Pioneering OKEANOS ENSEMBLE present traditional Japanese music including works by Yatsuhashi Kengyo, Michio Miyagi and contemporary works specially written for the Ensemble by Mai Fukasawa, Akiko Ogawa and Howard Skempton. Music for sho, koto & shakuhachi together with western instruments create an original and compelling sound world.

 

Between the music, Japanese eurythmist Tomie Ando will make visible traditional haiku and contemporary Japanese poetry through the art of eurythmy.

 

A brilliant evening of discovery and introduction to Japanese culture and music.
